CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. — Police have made an arrest in connection with a homicide investigation at a Central Falls salon earlier this week.
The Central Falls Police Department announced Friday that 66-year-old Lawrence Beauvais has been charged with first-degree homicide and first-degree robbery in the death of a woman found inside Sue’s Salon on Hunt Street.
Authorities said officers responded Thursday, March 26, after a 50-year-old woman, identified as Putali Kunwar, was discovered dead inside the salon. Investigators said her death appeared to be the result of an act of violence, prompting a homicide investigation.
Police said detectives used recently installed Flock camera technology during the investigation to identify a vehicle and license plate connected to a suspect who fled the scene. The information helped investigators track down Beauvais, according to officials.
Authorities located Beauvais at a motel in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, where he was taken into custody without incident. He was arraigned in Attleboro District Court and ordered held while awaiting extradition to Rhode Island.
Police have not released additional details about a possible motive.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Central Falls Police Department at 401-727-7411.
